Project folder and Images  en

Hi there,

I've been working on my website for almost 2 months now and finishing it with adding pictures.
In websiteX5 9 I've said in the preferences to store my project/website in D:\...\website.
All files are present there, all pictures too. So I deleted all pictures from my download folder and my dropbox folder since I had all images in the project folder already.

Now I get an Image Generation Error...

So If I'm right,.. All files you add to your website will be copied to the project folder but websiteX5 keeps using the original ones scattered across the pc?

Bit weird isn't?

Grtz & Good Easter weekend to all

yes, you should first make a full back up of your project, in that case everything goes under one project zip file. if you did not made a back up of your project, then you need to replace all of those images or copy them back to where they was originaly.

better way to be organized is before starting any project, first create a new folder and name it for example "project1". anything you want to add to your project, first copy it to this folder, then add it to your project.

So basically what you are saying:

When all picures do work, make a backup... then remove original project with the images from different folders. (since the backup makes a backup of those images). The backup, imported as a new project will extract in the prefered location. d:\...\website and also uses the pictures from there?

yes, if you want to delete your pictures/file, you need to do that.

I made my life easier, since I am designer and I have different clients. what I do is, I create a folder and name them after my clients, any file related to their project, will be kept inside that folder, then I import/use them to their website.

since I have to keep all of those temporary files, they are safe inside their folder, and anytime I am going to change anything, I know exactly were to look for.

I forgot to tell you, Automatic back up for x5, is the source addresses, if you remove the source, address destination will be empty!

Hello Bleeker K.,

WebSite X5 Evolution 9 uses always the images in the original location from where they have been inserted in the project. If you deleted them the program will not be able to find them showing you the image generation error. You need to move the images back in the original location and in case you want to have them all together organized by the program you need to export the project as IWZIP and then import it so you can choose where these images will be stored.

In Version 10 it has been introduced the internal library which copies the images from the original folder and stores them with the project file.

Many thanks!
