Hello, In anticipation of some major updates in version 10, I want to switch back to the good functioning version 9. But if I reinstall version 9 and my product key, of the version 9 that i have, into the program give, I get the message that it is not the correct product key? How can that be, can you help me with this problem?

Regards,

Clement

Hello Clement,

with the upgrade of the product key form Version 9 to Version 10 this licence has been moved to work only on Version 10 and the activation of Version 9 is no more possible.

If you require any further information, please feel free to write back.

Hello Clement,

When you update your licence from one Version to have another you cannot use the previous one. Please join the beta channel on beta.websitex5.com and then update V10 and check your projects because you will see that the issues were fixed.

Many thanks!

ok thank you for the answer.

But i think it is not correct that we can no longer use version 9, we have also paidfor version9 and Ithink thatyoushould be able touseboth versions. That is also with other programs.

For example,I haveOffice2003 and 2007and may stilluse bothwith the keyoftheprogramsthat Ihave. So maybe you should do that also, because so the users can choose what the want to use.

Greetings,

Clement

Agreed Clement, very well said...  Incomedia's change of policy as regards upgrades is (in my humble opinion) nothing short of commercial suicide.  I won't be upgrading to V10 (or any other newer versions for that matter) on account of it.  Very short-sighted and unpopular decision, judging by the amount of negative comments on the forum.

It's a shame, because V9 was very good, but the only thing we can do is vote with our wallets and choose alternative software if they won't listen, and I say this most regretfully.

It isalsofor me thelast time Ididan upgradeofthis software.I think the creators did notact correctly.Theyhave no rightto makethat we can not use previous versions.

ThisI have neverexperienced.I have many otherprograms with also differentversions and i cancontinue use it.Wealsohave to pay for each version!

I also think,if theydogothis commercial way, that many usersno longer shall buythe new versions anymore. The problemis also, thatthey have too soon released a new version.Thiswas stillfull oferrors. You can see it on this website.

Ihope thecreators will listen too the opinion of the users. In the futureI spendno longer my moneyanymore in this software if they do notact correctly.

I hear you Clement, and am in full agreement with you.  I also suspect that what Incomedia have done may not stand up to scrutiny in the eyes of the law, given that it was not made clear to the users what would happen to their v9 licences should they upgrade.

They are in a precarious position, and it is one which they would do well to address swiftly, should they wish to avoid large swathes of disgruntled X5 users.  I have been a loyal Website X5 user until today, but I have principles and will not go against them.

Theyshould be so fair to informtheuserthat afteran updateofversion 10,thepreviousversion 9could notbe used anymore. But then, most users wouldnothavedonethe upgrade, I amsure.

Also,I wouldcertainly nothavedone the upgrade. Andin my humbleopinion, this is alsonot legally.

Hello Clement and Paul,

We stated this information online http://static.incomedia.eu/websitex5.com/v10/v9tov10_conversion_en.pdf

when you upgrade for another product you are converting the licence for the new product by having a discount and then you can't use the previous one. The Upgrade is not the same like owning two full licences because there was a discount on upgrading the licence for the new one.

Please feel free to write back if you need more information.

Thank you Claudio,

That is the information I was looking for but could not find any link or reference to.  I am happy to see there was some written explanation of the licensing change.  With respect I suggest in future similar information should be clearly shown or linked to in the upgrade offer emails sent to existing customers.

However, I remain disappointed that there was a change in the first place, and personally I see it as a backward step for your company.  I cannot see any harm in allowing the customer to maintain both V9 and v10 versions after upgrading.  The limited financial gain this may bring you will almost certainly be at the expense of loss of customer goodwill.

But that is only my opinion...  others may differ.

Thanks again for your explanation.  In the present circumstances I will decline the upgrade and stick with a stable and fully functioning v9.

Best regards,

Paul
