We have released an update for Evolution that will be available only in the Beta channel for now.

The update's main target is to optimize the creation process and speed up the user experience. Below you will find a list with what has been changed and all the new features.

Use the following link if you wish to enter immediately the Beta channel and download your update http://beta.websitex5.com

We are looking forward to your feedback in order to pass on to the final update version as soon as possible!

Optimizations

  • The program's memory usage has been optimized.
  • File creation procedure and file management have been optimized: for example, if you modify an Object or a Page, unnecessary files will not be doubled.
  • The duplicate file naming procedure has been changed: this will speed up especially the Gallery Object process.

PHP Engine

  • The presence of single quotes in some of the objects placed in the project, blocked the PHP library.
  • The Guestbook did not try to create the public folder like the Blog does, if it did not exist.

File Creation

  • If you disabled the Update the Pages while modifying the Project option in the Preferences window, the program could have stopped working.

Convert projects from different editions

  • Some files during conversion of projects built in different editions (for example from Compact to Evolution) where not rebuilt correctly

Convert projects from Evolution 8 to Evolution 9

  • Invalid XML characters added to projects created with the previous Evolution 8, caused an error message when the projects where imported into the new version.
  • If the list of products created in Evolution 8 was imported from an external file, the prices could have errors in Evolution 9.

Cross-browser compatibility

  • If you added a single object that occupied the entire grid, the page layout was not correctly rendered in Firefox.
  • The login form to access your reserved area, was always aligned to the bottom of the page in Firefox.
  • It was not possible to delete the text added into the e-mail form field, with the Numbers only filter active.
  • The Sound link added to the header or footer, did not work in Internet Explorer.

Image rendering

  • In the Graphic Editor the Mask 03.png file in the Mask section, had a 1pixel border on the bottom-right.
  • If a square image with a white background was rotated with the Graphic Editor, an extra grey 1 pixel border was added to it. This was caused by the antialiasing effect.
  • In the Template Editor, the search field border color was not like the search field font color.

Template

  • Only in the preset templates with horizontal menu above the header, the vertical offset created by the presence of the menu itself was not calculated. For this reason, the objects added to the header where not positioned correctly.

Internal search engine

  • Particular page scripts generated a timeout error in the internal search engine.

Text Object

  • The rollover did not keep faith to the alignment and to the text height.
  • The height of the line did not change in text smaller than 9 points.

Video and Audio Object

  • It was not possible to see Vimeo videos in fullscreen mode.

E-mail form Object

  • Sometimes the validation tip did not appear in the single and multiple choice field type.
  • The presence of single quotes in some of the Object fields would cause the block of the PHP library therefore, it was not possible to send e-mails.

SiteMap

  • The Sitemap.xml file was not validated if special characters where used during the description added to  the Image or to the Video Objects sitemap settings.

Welcome Page

  • Sometimes, some of the files connected to the Welcome Page that weren't necessary anymore, where not deleted correctly.

Blog

  • In some circumstances, if the posts where modified the images in it got deleted.
  • The Post comments of the Blog created with Evolution 8 where not visualized by Blogs created with Evolution 9.

Shopping Cart

  • By updating the VAT settings amongst the Shopping Cart settings, the pages with Product Lists where not updated.
  • Sometimes the decimal part of the price was not formatted correctly.
  • The presence of single quotes in some objects of the project would cause the PHP library block therefore, it was not possible to send e-mails.
