Editing HTML in the header  en

I want to buy Website X5. At the moment I use Xsite Pro – I'm sure you know that it is no longer supported.

I have downloaded the free version of Website X5 version 10. However I can't access the HTML option in the free version.

As I'm used to editing HTML when necessary, I want to know if I can edit the HMTL directly in the header if I use website X5?

Please see this url: www.fuzzyken.com/ In this header I have a table which contains four external javascript links.

Can I create the same header in Website X5?

Ewan,

I'm not sure if you can make it 100 %. Test it out for yourself. But i'm sure you can come very close :)

You can add an html box in the header and put your html code in there.

Also there is room for javascripts, for your whole site in general settings then expert tab.

Or for a single page in the page properties (step2) -> properties button -> expert tab.

Thanks for your reply.

I can't see how to "add an HMTL box" in the free version I'm using at the moment. Is that somewhere in "Edit Graphic Template"?

I want to be sure I can edit the HTML before I buy Evolution 10.

Sorry Ewan, I was too fast,

The option is for sure available in the demo version, the free i'm not sure, could be not....

If you go to the header tab (edit graphical template), there is a button on top for html code, click it and you will create  a box in the header. If you click the box you can enter html code.

Hope this helps, I have no option to add a picture at the moment, if you don't get there let me know.

Below the link to download the demo version, that has all the same function as evo10. (accept limited pages and no upload possibility)

Hi Andre,

Thanks for the link and your help. I was using X5 Free 10, which didn't have the option to edit the HTML.

I have now d/loaded the Evolution demo 11. Sure, that does allow me to edit the HTML, and it has been reasonably successful. I just need to get used to using the X5 program.

One thing I noticed in the demo 11 is I can't seem to get the page length to adjust - it doesn't seem to have a vertical scroll bar in the browser when there's a lot of text on the page.

So far all my pages seem to be the same fixed length, they won't adjust automatically when I'm previewing them - so if there's one line of text on one page, but 50 lines of text on another page, the pages all seem to display the same fixed length (about 75% length of the screen).
Surely a scroll bar should appear automatically when previewing a long page in the browser?

No, For the page height there is no scroll bar to set.

You can set a minimum height in the template. if the heigt is smaller then your screen then your explorer will make a scroll bar.

If the text or objects are longer then your min height then there is space added as needed automaticly by x5.

So choose your min. height to desired lenght.

The width can also be choosen in the emplate selectio. (n the banner part) if you screen gets smaller your exploer will crate a scrollbar.

To set these you need a custom template th standard have standard setting by Incomedia.

If you want to edit one of tem you need to make a copy, then edit the copy.

Hope this helps clear up a liitle bit.

you can always press F1 for elp in x5 as well.

BR André
